Google has introduced another AI model called Gemini 1.5 Flash. Gemini Flash promises to be as powerful as Gemini Pro but boasts to be faster. Gemini 1.5 Flash has been optimized for low-latency responses.
Josh Woodward, Google’s vice president of Google Labs, confirmed how Gemini 1.5 Flash and Gemini 1.5 Pro differ. He pointed out that developers who need to address quick tasks should use Gemini 1.5 Flash. Gemini 1.5 Pro is for more complex tasks where multi-step reasoning is needed.
Google says that it used the distillation process to transfer most essential knowledge and skills from Gemini 1.5 Pro to Gemini 1.5 Flash. So, it has the same multimodal capabilities. Gemini 1.5 Flash can analyze a 1,500-page document or a codebase with more than 30,000 lines in one go.
Gemini 1.5 Flash will be available for developers in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI starting today.
