Google One is shutting down VPN

VPN by Google One

If you are one of the people who have been using Google One’s VPN, Google has bad news for you. The company has confirmed that it will be shutting down the VPN feature later this year.

VPN by Google is another service joining “Google Graveyard.” Google says that the decision was taken to shut down VPN to focus on providing the most in-demand features and benefits. Google decides to shut down a service only when the service fails to attract enough users.

VPN service with Google One is only available in 22 countries on Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac.

Google introduced VPN back in 2020 and it was only available to Google One subscribers with at least 2TB of storage plan. Last year, the company expanded it to all Google One plans to make it more affordable.

It is worth noting that the free Pixel VPN that was introduced with the Pixel 7 series will continue to exist. Google guaranteed its availability for 5 years. VPN with Google Fi cellular plans will also remain available.
