WhatsApp to soon let users set all media uploads to HD quality

WhatsApp

WhatsApp for Android will soon get a new option to let users set default media upload quality to HD. Once selected, the app will send all photos in HD quality. Currently, users have to select media upload quality to HD each time they send photos.

WABetaInfo spotted the feature in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.17 build. Android users can install the beta version through the Google Play Beta Program if they want to try this feature.

To change Media upload quality, go to Settings and then tap Storage and Data. Here you will see a new option Media upload quality. Tapping on it will open two options: Standard quality and HD quality. Select one depending on your choice. The selected option will be set as default for all future uploads.

WhatsApp to soon let users set all media uploads to HD quality

WhatsApp introduced HD photo sharing back in August 2023 and also added support for high-resolution videos shortly after that. But users have to manually select media quality every time they send photos or videos. With this feature, they can set the media quality default, so they don’t have to select quality each time.

It is worth noting that the feature is only available to some beta testers that install WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.17 update. The company will roll out it to more beta testers in the coming days.

There is no information on when the feature will come to the stable version.
