As of now, WhatsApp lets users share photos, text, and a 30-second video as a status update. Now the company is working to allow posting up to 60-second long video as WhatsApp status.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature is now available for beta users. So, WhatsApp users using beta version 2.24.7.6 for Android can already post up to 1-minute video as their status update.

The company decided to increase the video length based on user feedback.

We cannot say when the feature will be available to all users. The company is still testing it and will bring it to a stable version when the feature is ready to roll out. There is no information on when the company will add the feature for iOS>

WhatsApp is also working on a mention feature that allows users to mention their contacts in status. This is similar to the mention feature on Instagram where users can mention their friends on Status updates by adding their usernames.
