Qualcomm has just announced its latest flagship SoC Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It uses the same architecture that we get in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but comes with different clock speeds.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a 4nm SoC. It features an octa-core processor with a primary core clocked at 3.0GHz, 4x Cortex-A720 cored running at 2.8GHz, and 3 Cortex-A520 clocked at 2.8GHz.

There’s Qualcomm Adreno next-gen GPU with real-time Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, Snapdragon Game Post Processing Accelerator, and Snapdragon Game Super Resolution. It also supports HDR gaming and supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.

The SoC supports up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It also offers USB 3.1 Gen 2 over USB-C.

It supports up to 36 MP triple camera, Up to 64+36 MP dual camera, Up to 108 MP single camera with ZSL, and Up to 200MP single camera. There is a Qualcomm Spectra Image Sensor Processor and Hexagon NPU for image processing. The SoC also has an “always-sensing camera” feature that speeds up time face unlock and QR code scanning. There is also support for 4K HDR videos at up to 60fps, but it packs 8K video mode and 4K at 120fps.

The chip supports onboard QHD+ display at up to 144Hz or a 4K display at 60Hz. The VRR is supported in the range from 1Hz to 240Hz. It also supports up to 8K panels (30Hz) or 1080p (up to 240Hz) panels.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has an older Snapdragon X70 5G modem. However, it implements 3GPP Release 17 and 5G power savings that were not in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. WiFi 7 promises a peak speed odyssey 5.8 Gbps. It also supports Bluetooth 5.4.

We will soon see several smartphones powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi have already confirmed to launch smartphones powered by the new Chip in the coming months.
