7 Out of 10 Best-Selling Smartphones in 2023 Belong to Apple: Counterpoint

Despite the commendable efforts of Android phone manufacturers, Apple remains the ultimate choice for consumers. The latest report from Counterpoint reveals a staggering statistic: 7 out of the 10 best-selling smartphones in 2023 belong to Apple. Apple dominates the top 7 spots on the list. It showcases the popularity of popularity of iPhones. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy A-series, known for its affordability, fills the remaining three spots at the bottom of the rankings.

Apple’s iPhone 14 was the best-selling phone in 2023 with an estimated 3.9% of total smartphone shipments. Almost half of iPhone 14’s shipments were in the US and China. iPhone 14 Pro Max and 14 Pro were in second and third places.

Apple’s iPhone 13 is the oldest iPhone model on the list and secured fourth place. This model saw double-digit YoY shipment growth in India and Japan. Apple’s most recent iPhone models including iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 are in 5th, 6th, and 7th places.


Apple experienced a notable surge in several emerging markets, particularly in India and the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Notably, India os now the fifth smartphone market to surpass 10 million units in annual iPhone sales.

Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, Samsung Galaxy A04e, and Samsung Galaxy A14 4G secured the last three places respectively. These phones saw good sales in emerging markets like Brazil, India, Mexico, and Indonesia.
