Samsung has announced its Galaxy S24 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The series includes Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones. These devices boast impressive features, including enhanced displays, powerful performance, sustainable materials, and advanced camera capabilities.
Galaxy S24 and S24+ have vibrant displays, featuring a 6.2-inch FHD+ and a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O flat display, respectively. The display panel features a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 2600 nits brightness for clarity in various lighting conditions.
Depending on the market, these devices are powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400 processors. Samsung has also added a bigger vapor chamber cooling on these phones. Galaxy S24 packs 8GB RAM along with 128GB and 256GB storage. The S24+ comes with 12GB RAM along with 256GB and 512GB storage.
Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones run Android 14 with One UI 6.1 out of the box. For the first time, Samsung promised seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. These ones also get Galaxy AI that brings several AI features such as Live Translate, two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls within the native app, Interpreter feature, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and gesture-driven Circle to Search.
The rear camera setup is the same in both the phones. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide Lens with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10-megapixel Telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies, these phones have a 12-megapixel front-facing camera to ensure high-quality selfies. The camera app also has several AI-powered camera features, such as Galaxy AI editing tools, Edit Suggestions, Generative Edit, and new Instant Slow-mo. These phones also have Dedicated ISP Block for noise reduction.
Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11be (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS + GLONASS, USB 3.1, and NFC. These phones also feature an in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner.
The Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 4000mAh battery supporting 25W fast charging, while the larger S24+ features a 4900mAh battery with 45W fast charging capability. Both phones feature wireless and reverse wireless charging options.
Galaxy S24 incorporates components made from recycled cobalt and rare earth elements. Samsung claims that the Galaxy S24 is also the first Galaxy S series phone to feature recycled steel and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). Packages of these phones are also made from 100% recycled paper material.
Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones are IP68 dust and water-resistant. Galaxy S24 measures 147 x 70.6 x 7.6mm and weighs 167g. The Galaxy S24+ measures 158.5 ×75.9×7.7mm and weighs 196g. Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ come in Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet and Amber Yellow colors. There are also Jade Green, Sandstone Orange, and Sapphire Blue online exclusive colors for some countries.
