Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of Ola, has unveiled his ambitious project Krutrim AI to develop India’s first full-stack AI solution. Krutrim is known as India’s own AI chatbot that leverages Indian knowledge, languages, and data. Krutrim will compete against big tech giants including Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
Bhavish Aggarwal and Krishnamurthy Venugopala Tenneti founded Krutrim Si Designs back in April 2023. His company has introduced two AI models: Krutrim and Krutrim Pro. Krutrim is the base model that is capable of understanding 22 languages and generating text in 10 Indian languages. Krutrim Pro is designed for advanced problem-solving.
The company confirmed that Krutrim AI has been trained on more than 2 trillion tokens and 20 times more Indic tokens than any other model. So, it can outperform well-known models like GPT-4 and Llama in terms of Indic performance. Notably, Krutrim can also process voice inputs and respond in voice, providing a unique and interactive user experience.

Aggarwal boasts that Krutrim AI has been fine-tuned using a substantial amount of Indian data that lets this AI model understand Indian culture and languages. The company also showed us benchmarks for Indian-language understanding where Krutrim scored higher than models like GPT-4 and Llama.
While announcing Krutrim, Aggarwal also demonstrated Krutrim’s multilingual in a live demo where we got to know the capabilities of the AI model. In the demo, we sew the chatbot writing poems in Tamil and Bengali languages. He also asked the chatbot to write code in C++ and the chatbot replied well.
Krutrim SI Designs also has plans to develop cutting-edge silicon chips to establish a robust cloud infrastructure and create AI models for India.
Krutrim AI model website is now live where users can register their interest. The base LLM will be accessible to everyone from the next month. The company will also release APIs in February next year.
