MediaTek has introduced its latest 8000-series chipset Dimensity 8300. Dimensity 8300 is the direct successor to Dimensity 8200 and promises performance upgrades.
Dimensity 8300 is built on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process and has an octa-core CPU. The CPU includes 4x Arm Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at up to 3.35GHz and 4x Arm Cortex-A510 efficiency cores clocked at 2.2GHz. These cores are based on Armv9 CPU architecture. MediaTek promises up to 20% faster CPU performance and 30% peak gains in power efficiency compared to its predecessor.
The SoC has a Mali-G615 GPU clocked at 1400 MHz which is 60% faster and 55% power efficient than the Mali-G610 MC6 used in Dimensity 8200. MediaTek also claims up to 17% faster app cold launch and up to 47% faster app launch from standby.
The chip has support for Quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM (8,533Mbps) and UFS 4.0 storage.
Dimensity 8300 has an APU 780 AI processor that is 3.3x faster than its predecessor. Dimensity 8300 is the first chip to support Generative AI with stable diffusion and LLM.
The new 14-bit HDR-ISP Imagiq 980 ISP can record 4K 60 FPS HDR videos. It can also leverage the onboard NPU for noise reduction, bokeh, and other tasks. The ISP can handle one 320 MP camera sensor or three 32 MP lenses at the same time.
The SoC supports up to a 180 Hz FHD+ or a 120 Hz QHD+ display. It also has the capability to support dual Displays.
It also has an integrated 5G modem with support for dual-mode 5G and up to 5.17Gbps downlink on sub-6GHz networks. The SoC also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
Xiaomi already confirmed that Redmi K70E will be launched with Dimensity 8300 later this month.
