For the past 13 years, Xiaomi smartphones have been running MIUI. The last version of MIUI was MIUI 14 which was released earlier this year. Now the company has decided to stop working on MIUI and replace it with a brand new OS dubbed HyperOS. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced the new Xiaomi OS in a social media post. He confirmed that HyperOS will debut with upcoming Xiaomi 14 series smartphones.
HyperOS has been developed to keep a lot of things in mind. This software will not just power smartphones but over 200 product categories including vehicles and smart home products. Gradually, Xiaomi’s HyperOS will replace the MIUI in older phones and tablets.
HyperOS aims to offer Hyper performance, fluidity, and connectivity across smartphones x AIoT. The OS will come with a completely new rewritten architecture. It will be interesting to see if HyperOS will be able to take on OxygenOS and other custom ROMs.
We should get more details about HyperOS in the coming weeks, Xiaomi 14 series is expected to be announced next month in November.
