Samsung has announced the launch of its latest item tracker Galaxy SmartTag2. It will be available globally starting October 11.

Galaxy SmartTag2 features a new compact ring-shaped design with a metal loop. You can attach several accessories such as clips and keyrings. The device has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. So, it keeps working even in challenging environments.

The company has updated the Compass View feature making it easier to track the directions of the tracker. The feature is supported on any UWB-supported Galaxy smartphone. The device takes advantage of Bluetooth Low Energy, UWB capabilities, and Augmented Reality Find technology to visually guide you toward the item using the phone’s camera.

The SmartThings Find app is also getting an update. It now provides a full-screen map view. The app can also provide Unknown tag alerts to notify you about unauthorized tracking if the device detects an unknown SmartTag following you. The device supports a new pet walking mode. So, you can easily log walks with your pet.

Galaxy SmartTag2 promises up to 700 days of battery life with Power Saving Mode. That’s more than twice of previous Galaxy SmartTag models. In normal mode, it can last for up to 500 days, a 50% increase as compared to its predecessor. Users can easily switch between two modes.

The only downside of Galaxy SmartTag2 is that it only works with Samsung devices. So, you need a Galaxy phone for tracking.
