Microsoft has launched a new version of its web app store for Windows. The new web app store aims to help users find Windows apps on the web. Clicking on links will open the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Microsoft claims that the new web App Store will help users find and download Windows apps and Xbox PC games easily. It is basically the web front to the app store on Windows.

In the new version of the web App Store, Microsoft has ditched the old React codebase and replaced it with Shoelace, Lit, Vite, and a C# ASPNET backend.

Microsoft is also working on an Xbox mobile gaming store that may launch as soon as 2024. This store will have a web interface. So, the new web app store seems the first step towards it.
