As expected, Apple introduced its new ARM-based SoCs M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max for the Mac. These new SoCs use 3-nanometer process technology and offer up to 128GB of fast LPDDR5 unified memory

Apple has already introduced a new MacBook Pro and iMac powered by Apple M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max SoCs. The company could launch MacBook Air with M3 chips in 2024.

Apple M3 chip features 25 billion transistors. It includes an 8-core CPU, with four performance cores and four efficiency cores. M3 supports up to 24GB of unified memory. It has a 10-core GPU that boasts to be 65 percent faster than M1 for graphics performance.

Apple M3 Pro has a 12-core CPU design that includes six performance cores and six efficiency cores. It has 37 billion transistors and an 18-core GPU. The CPU promises to offer 30 percent faster performance as compared to M1 Pro and up to 40 percent faster GPU performance. It supports unified memory up to 36GB.

M3 Max has a 16-core CPU with 12 performance cores and four efficiency cores. It boasts to be up to 80 percent faster than M1 Max. It also has two ProRes engines. The Chip also includes up to 92 billion transistors and a 40-core GPU. The SoC supports for up to 128GB of unified memory.

M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max also feature an enhanced Neural Engine for machine learning (ML) models. The Neural Engine is up to 60 percent faster than in the M1 family of chips. These SoCs also have Powerful AI image processing tools including noise reduction and super-resolution.

The M3 family of chips also comes with a next-generation GPU. The GPU offers Dynamic Caching that allocates the use of local memory in hardware in real-time. It also brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing and hardware-accelerated mesh to Mac for the first time.
