WhatsApp is in the process of creating a new feature that will enable cross-platform messaging. This feature will let users chat and connect with users from third-party apps. This means WhatsApp users can talk to people using different apps without those people needing to download WhatsApp. A recent beta update of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.23.19.8) has a new section called “Third-party chats.”

This new feature is being made to follow the rules of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). According to this law, WhatsApp is seen as a significant platform, which means it must allow other apps to work together with it. With the new feature, WhatsApp will enable cross-platform messaging with third-party apps.

WABetaInfo, a website that keeps an eye on WhatsApp, says this “Third-party chats” feature is being tested with beta users. But it doesn’t work for everyone yet. The name makes us think that it might help Meta’s secret messaging app work on different platforms. This means even if you don’t have WhatsApp, you can still chat with people who use it.
