Xiaomi just announced its latest flagship foldable phone MIX Fold 3 at an event in China. The phone comes with an 8.03-inch 120Hz foldable display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, 50+13+10+10 MP rear camera, 20MP selfie camera, 5G SA/NSA, and 4800mAh battery.
MIX Fold 3 features an 8.03-inch 2K+ Eco² OLED Plus Samsung E6 display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2600 nits peak brightness. The display panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It also has UTG glass protection. The phone also features a 6.56-inch Full HD+ E6 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1300 nits peak brightness. This panel also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. For the protection of external display, the company added Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Xiaomi also acquired TÜV Rheinland certification for both displays.
The phone uses Xiaomi’s proprietary hinge technology that includes a 3-element connecting rod structure, 14 micro-hinges, 198 rotating shaft components, and 1800MPa ultra-high strength steel. Xiaomi has tested the phone for 500,000 folds. When the phone is filled, it is just 5.26mm thick.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version that is clocked at up to 3.36GHz. The phone also has VC vapor chamber cooling and a total area of 10,943mm² for effective cooling. It comes in three models: 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. Xiaomi has used LPPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage for faster performance.
The rear camera setup includes 50 megapixels primary camera with Sony IMX800 sensor, f/1.77 aperture, and OIS. It also has 13 megapixels 120° ultra-wide angle camera with OV13B10 sensor, 10 megapixels telephoto camera with Samsung S5K3K1 sensor, and 10 megapixels 5x periscope telephoto camera with Samsung S5K3K1 sensor and OIS. It can also record 30cm super-macro videos. The phone also offers up to 8K video recording.
For selfies, the phone has a 20 megapixels camera on the inner display and the same 20 megapixels camera on the outer display.
The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. MIX Fold 3 has Dual 1115 speakers with Hi-Res audio and Dolby Atmos.
Connectivity options of MIX Fold 3 include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS (L1 + L5), NavIC, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1, and NFC. The phone packs a 4800mAh battery with 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 comes in a glass version that is offered in Black and Gold colors. There is also an aerospace-grade Xiaomi composite fiber version in black color. It integrates high-strength aramid and ceramic fibers. There’s no official IP rating for water and dust resistance.
