Elon Musk has today announced that video and audio calls are coming to X soon. The feature will be available for Android, iOS, Windows PC, and Mac. Musk confirmed that it won’t require a phone number for making calls. Something similar to what we have on Instagram, Snapchat, and Messenger.

The company has been testing the feature internally for the past few weeks. Earlier this month, X designer Andrea Conway tweeted to confirm the calling feature of X.

X, formerly Twitter, already lets users contact other people on the platform via DM. But the calling feature was not available. There are also a few restrictions in DM for normal users to promote the premium subscription. We can expect some kind of limitations for normal users in the calling feature as well.

Musk first talked about bringing the calling feature on the platform back in May. Now the company is set to roll it out.
