Instagram has finally released its much-hyped Twitter clone dubbed Threads. The app has been built by the Instagram team. You can download the app from App Store or Play Store depending on the phone you use and sign up using your Instagram account.

You can see Threads as a Text-only post version of Instagram. The app is similar to Twitter. You can write text posts called Threads. Posts can also include links, Photos, and videos of up to 5 minutes in length. It lets you follow people and connect with creators and friends.

When you first signup, it suggests you follow people you already follow on Instagram. So, it is easy to keep your Instagram connections on Threads. Your Instagram username and verification will also carry over. If you have a verified account on Instagram, Threads will automatically add a verification badge right next to your name.

Threads also let you share posts to your Instagram story or as a link on any other platform. The company has also crosslinked Threads and Instagram. So, it will be easier for your Instagram followers to know about your Threads profile and vice versa.

The app has also added several tools and features to keep abusive people away. You can control who can mention you or reply to your posts. The app also lets you add hidden words to filter out replies. You can always unfollow, block, restrict, or report a profile on Threads.

Threads app is now being rolled out in more than 100 countries for iOS and Android.

The company has launched the app at a time when most users are not happy with the new restrictions imposed by Twitter. The active username of Twitter has also decreased by nearly one-third between January 2023 and April 2023, according to DataReportal. This could also help Threads in onboarding several active Twitter users
