Billionaire Elon Musk has announced a new AI company called xAI. According to the official website, the team behind xAI includes people who have previously worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto. Although xAI is a separate company from X Corp, it will work closely with Twitter, Tesla, and other companies.

xAI didn’t disclose what projects the company will be working on. The official website says, “The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe.” The website has listed 12 members on the website including Musk. Dan Hendrycks, director of the Center for AI Safety, will be the advisor in the company.

In the past, Must also voiced his concerns about the risks of AI if not used properly. Back in March, he also called for developers to stop training powerful AI models. It is worth noting that Elon Musk was the early backer of OpenAI but later he also criticized the company for Microsoft’s control. Musk also pointed out that OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT has a liberal bias. So, he also hinted at his plans of developing an alternative. So, we can expect a ChatGPT rival from xAI.

After the launch of xAI, Must now oversees six companies including Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, the Boring Company, Twitter, and xAI.
