ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has released a new app Ripple for creators to compose and edit music. For now, the app is only available in a closed beta environment in the US.

ByteDance claims that the app can assist creators and musicians create and edit audio in a way that’s similar to portable DAWs. Users can sing or hum a melody into the app and the app will use machine learning to expand the melody and turn it into music. The music will include sounds of drums, bass, piano, and others in an impressive way.

The app includes a ‘virtual recording studio’ that lets users record, cut, trim, and edit audio files directly on their smartphones. The company also promises to add more mobile-friendly tools for creators.

Ripple can generate instrumental music for creators to use in their videos. They use music in YouTube videos, shorts, and reels, or add vocals to the music.

ByteDance confirmed that it trained Ripple’s model using music that the company owns and music that was licensed to the company.

Ripple is currently invite-only and the company has not confirmed its future rollout plans. However, the company has currently no plans to launch the app in other countries. You can visit the official website Ripple.club for the download link.
