Exchange Rs. 2000 notes as Amazon Pay balance

Amazon India has announced a ‘cash load at doorstep’ service that lets users deposit Rs. 2000 notes in exchange for an Amazon Pay balance.

As a part of the ‘Clean Note Policy,’ Reserve Bank of India is phasing out Rs. 2,000 notes will and it will not be a legal tender after September 30, 2023. People can go to any bank to exchange Rs. Rs. 2,000 notes or spend it before the deadline. Several shops have already stopped accepting Rs. 2,000 notes. So, people are struggling to spend their Rs 2000 notes.

Amazon has confirmed that you can deposit up to Rs 50,000 per month in the Amazon Pay accounts.

Vikas Bansal, Whole-time Director at Amazon Pay India said, “The facility to top up your Amazon Pay balance with cash handed to delivery agents at your doorstep is one of our unique services in India available to full KYCed customers. Staying true to our mission, we will continue to provide holistic experiences to our customers by facilitating such simplified solutions and further catalyse the digital payments revolution in India,”

To deposit Rs. 2,000 notes into your Amazon Pay balance, you need to first complete the video KYC process on the Amazon app. This process shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. Then place a cash-on-delivery order through Amazon. When the Amazon delivery agent arrives, give him Rs. 2000 notes. The delivery agent will take care of adding the cash to your Amazon Pay balance. In a short time, the amount will be reflected in your Amazon Pay balance.

You can now spend the Amazon Pay balance in any Amazon order or create a UPI handle to send money to your friend, spend it at a shop, scan the UPI QR code, and make payments on online apps.
