Qualcomm just announced its latest Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 mobile platform for budget 5G smartphones. Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the successor to Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 which was announced last year. The chipset brings support for the improved 3GPP Release 16 version of 5G.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the first 4nm chip in the Snapdragon 4 series. It has two performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 6 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It boasts a 10% performance boost as compared to its predecessor. Qualcomm didn’t confirm the GPU details.
The chipset supports up to FHD+ display at 120fps, LPDDR5x (up to 3,200MHz) RAM, and UFS 3.1 (2-lane) storage. The SoC supports faster autofocus and electronic image stabilization. It claims to offer blur-free clearer images. The chipset can handle cameras up to 108MP or up to 32MP resolution for Zero Shutter Lag.
It packs Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System, Wi-Fi 5 for strong Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX for audio. Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 technology.
