Mark Zuckerberg has officially unveiled the Meta Quest 3 virtual and mixed reality headset. It is priced at $499 and will be available this fall in all the countries where Meta Quest is currently supported.

Meta Quest 3 gets better resolution than Meta Quest 2. It is powered by a next-generation Snapdragon chipset and promises to deliver more than twice the graphical performance as the previous generation Snapdragon GPU in Quest 2.

The company has also redesigned the Quest 3’s Touch Plus controllers. It also removed outer tracking rings to save space.

The new device is also compatible with Quest 2’s games.

“Now you can play a virtual board game on your kitchen table with Demeo, decorate your living room with virtual art courtesy of Painting VR, or dive into a fully immersive world to do things that are simply not possible otherwise,” said Meta in its press release on Thursday.

The 128GB version is priced at $499.99. People who want additional storage options will also have better storage models. The company is also slashing the price of Quest 2. Quest 2 will be available at $299.99 for the 128GB version and 256GB will soon cost $349.99 starting June 4.

Meta will provide more details on September 27 during its Connect conference.
