Apple officially announced iOS 17 at WWDC 2023. The new smartphone OS will bring notable updates to FaceTime, Messages, and the phone app.

The contact book is getting a new feature called posters that shows contact information on a beautiful card.

AirDrop can now be used to send your selected email addresses and phone numbers just by bringing two iPhones near each other. This feature is called NameDrop. If you are sharing large files via AirDrop, you can step away and AirDrop will keep transferring content.

Apple is adding transcriptions of voice messages to messages. The new feature Check In lets people know if you are on time or delayed. Users will also be able to add any emoji or photo cutout as a sticker on iMessage or another place. Live photos can now be turned into animated stickers and you can also add effects to stickers.

Apple has also a new app called Journal that automatically suggests moments you might want to add to journal entry. Entries can include activities or photos. The app also lets you schedule reminders for yourself. For added security, the app is end-to-end encrypted.

The company has also improved keyboard autocorrection by using new AI modeling. Dictation also uses a new AI model.

The iOS 17 has also added a new mode StandBy for charging. It runs the display into a status display with the date and time. You can set it to show information from Live Activities, widgets, and smart stacks. This mode automatically turns on when your phone is in landscape mode while charging.

As expected, Siti now lets you drop the “Hey” and can listen even if you say “Siri.” Siri will also recognize back-to-back commands.

The iOS 17 will be released soon after the upcoming iPhone 15 series will go on sale.
