UPSRTC ticketing website hacked

data breach

Cyber criminals managed to hack the ticket booking website of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) on early Wednesday at around 2 am. This affected the ticketing system and the government had to put it down. It may take up to 10 days to completely restore the website.

M/s Orion Pro, the company who manages the website, has begun the process of data recovery and restore the service as soon as possible. The company has also filed a case in this matter.

Now the transport corporation is opening buses through manual ticketing. So, bus operation is not affected. People are forced to buy tickets from the ticket counters at the bus stands.

“The transport corporation’s buses are being operated through manual ticketing, so that the operation of the buses is not affected. Regional officers have been asked to monitor bus stands and depots for 24 hours,” it said.

UPSRTC has planned to restore the complete system in all 20 areas and 115 depots of the company over the course of next 7-10 days.

UP Government has also decided to do a third party security audit for all the applications and websites managed by the company to avoid any such incidents in the future.
