Proton launches a password manager ‘Proton Pass’

Proton launches a password manager ‘Proton Pass’

Proton, the company behind Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Proton Drive, and Proton Calendar, has announced the launch of its password manager called Proton Pass. The company confirmed that everything you save in the password manager scudding email addresses, passwords, notes, and URLs will be end-to-end encrypted.

Proton Pass claims to be the first one built by a dedicated encryption and privacy company. The company uses strong bcrypt password hashing implementation and Secure Remote Password (SRP) for authentication. Proton has also integrated a two-factor authenticator and 2FA autofill support.

Proton joined forces with SimpleLogin back in 2022. This helped the company to develop a new password manager.

The beta version of Proton Pass is now available to select Proton customers who are into Proton’s Lifetime and Visionary plans. The public launch is scheduled for later this year. Proton Pass is currently available for Android, iOS, and as a browser extension. Browser extensions are available fro Chrome and Firebox.
