At MWC 2023 in Barcelona, Xiaomi unveiled its new prototype Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition. It weighs just 126 grams and features a ‘Retina-level’ display.

The glasses feature a pair of MicroLED displays with 1,200 nits peak brightness and free-form light-guiding prisms for recreating images on the display. Xiaomi AR glass display boasts 58 PPD. The company claims that humans can’t perceive individual pixels if PPD reaches 60.

The device packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 1 platform and supports Snapdragon Spaces XR development for running different applications. It also supports Mi Share’s application streaming capability. So, users can watch content through different apps like YouTube and TikTok. The glasses also have 50ms latency with a paired smartphone.

There are also three forward-facing cameras on the glasses. These cameras are used to map the environment immediately in front of the wearer.

Glasses weigh 126g because the company is using lightweight materials like carbon fiber, magnesium alloy, and a self-developed silicon-oxygen anode battery. The silicon-oxygen anode battery is smaller than a typical lithium-ion battery.
