Popular messaging platform WhatsApp is testing a new feature that lets users schedule group calls. All the users who are part of the group will receive a notification when the call starts.
As you can see in the screenshot, the company will add a new context menu for scheduling a call. You can select when the call starts and all the group members will be notified. The feature also lets people edit the name of the call to give the call a meaningful name to let others know the purpose of the call. Users can schedule both video and voice calls.
WhatsApp groups are already used by several companies for team communication. With a scheduled call feature, WhatsApp could be even more beneficial in workplaces.
The new scheduled group calling feature is currently available in the beta version of the Android app (WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.4.4). We cannot say when the feature could be rolled out in the stable version.
