Nokia has announced a new brand identity for the first time in nearly 60 years. The company is getting a new logo. Nokia has dropped the blue color of its old logo for a range of new colors. The company also tweeted to show its new brand logo in different background colors.

The company wants people to stop associating it with mobile phones. Nokia is a 5G equipment maker that left the smartphone business almost a decade ago. HMD-Global now sells Nokia-branded phones after getting the license from Microsoft which bought Nokia’s smartphone business in 2014.

“In most people’s minds, we are still a successful mobile phone brand, but this is not what Nokia is about,” Chief Executive Office Pekka Lundmark said in an interview. “We want to launch a new brand that is focusing very much on the networks and industrial digitalization, which is a completely different thing from the legacy mobile phones.”

Nokia is now focusing on adding market share in the network equipment business. It also wants to grow its business by selling private 5G networks to companies.
