Motorola defy 2 smartphone and Defy Satellite Link launched

British mobile phone manufacturer, Bullitt Group, and Motorola Mobility have partnered to release a new smartphone Motorola Defy 2, and a Bluetooth device Motorola Defy Satellite Link to provide satellite connectivity.

Motorola Defy 2 features a large 6.6-inch FHD+ display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The phone packs octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 930 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Internal storage is expandable via a microSD card. Motorola Defy 2 runs Android 12 out of the box. Motorola promises two OS updates and 5 years of security patches.

The phone features a triple camera that includes 50 megapixels primary camera, 8 megapixels ultrawide camera, and 2 megapixels macro camera. For selfies, the phone has 8 megapixel front camera.

Motorola Defy 2 offers satellite connectivity and 5G. It uses Bullitt’s satellite messenger. The phone can access existing geostationary satellites to exchange text messages using the Bullitt Satellite Messenger.

The phone packs 5000mAh Battery with support for 15W charging and Qi wireless charging.

Motorola Defy 2 is designed to survive drops and falls. It has dust, sand, dirt, and waterproof design. It has passed the Mil-Spec 810H tests. The phone is hygienic and is able to be cleaned and sanitized with soap and water or alcohol wipes. The phone also has Bullitt’s Hygiene+ technology. All the external surfaces are manufactured with materials blended with antimicrobial, antibacterial additives.

Motorola Defy 2 is priced at USD 599 and will be available from Q2 2023 across North America, Latin America, and Canada via selected operators. Pricing includes 12 months of SOS Assist.

Motorola Defy Satellite Link is a Bluetooth design that offers Satellite Connectivity. It features two-way messaging, location sharing, and SOS assistance. The device is waterproof and dustproof with an IP68 rating. It also includes a physical SOS and location ‘check-in’ buttons. The device packs a 600mAh battery for multiple days of use.

Motorola Defy Satellite Link

Motorola Defy Satellite Link is priced at USD 99 and will be April 2023 across international retailers. The 12 months subscription to the Essentials Messaging Service starts at USD 149.

Motorola will also put these devices for demonstration at MWC 2023.
