In an official statement, CEO Mark Zuckerberg added, “our community continues to grow, and I’m pleased with the strong engagement across our apps. Facebook just reached the milestone of 2 billion daily actives. The progress we’re making on our AI discovery engine and Reels are major drivers of this. Beyond this, our management theme for 2023 is the ‘Year of Efficiency,’ and we’re focused on becoming a stronger and more nimble organization.”

Ad revenue is still Meta’s biggest source of earnings. Meta’s revenue shrunk over the last year. The company recorded $32.2 billion in revenue in the last quarter. Even if the earnings were 4 percent down from last year, it is better than expectations.

Meta is still losing big money on met averse. Reality Labs lost $4.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022. The company expects to lose even more money on this in the coming years.

Meta-owned WhatsApp also has 2 billion active daily users and it crossed the milestone back in October last year. Instagram also has over a billion monthly active users. Considering the current growth numbers, it will also soon become the platform with over 2 billion active users.
