Twitter has suspended the official Twitter account of Mastodon. Now if you visit Mastodon’s Twitter profile, it says “Account suspended.” Mastodon recently became popular as one of the best Twitter alternatives.

There is no clear information why Mastodon’s Twitter account was suspended. The ban happened soon after Mastodon tweeted a link to @ElonJet’s page on Mastodon. This incident could be the reason why Twitter banned Mastodon.

Mastodon is a popular Twitter alternative launched back in October 2016. The platform is built on a decentralized network made up of thousands of websites talking to each other. Soon after Musk completed his purchase of Twitter, Mastodon saw a surge in new user signup.

Twitter has also started blocking Mastodon links shared on Twitter. Twitter now flags Mastodon links as “potentially harmful.” The microblogging platform has banned mstdn.social and mastodon.social domains.
