MediaTek has amounted its latest flagship smartphone SoC Dimensity 9200. This is the 2nd-Gen mobile platform built on TSMC’s 4nm process. It promises a 32% performance improvement compared to the previous generation and a 25% reduction in power consumption compared to the predecessor.
Dimensity 9200 is based on ARM’s second-generation Armv9 architecture and is built-in a second-generation 4 nm manufacturing process. The CPU includes a high-performance Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz, and 3 efficiency Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. MediaTek claims that the SoC offers 12% better single-core performance and 10% in multi-core performance than Dimensity 9000.
MediaTek also claims 10% better heat dissipation capabilities and 25% lower power consumption under load. The SoC comes with Immortalis-G715 GPU that promises up to 32% improved GPU performance. The SoC also supports a hardware-based ray tracing engine and variable rate rendering technology.
Dimensity 9200 supports LPDDR5X 8533Mbps RAM and UFS 4.0 storage with Multi-Circular Queue. It also comes with HyperEngine 6.0 Gaming Technology and a sixth generation AI Processing Unit (APU 690).
The SoC sports a Full HD+ display with up to 240Hz, WHQD with up to 144Hz, and 5K (2.5Kx2) with up to 60Hz. It also supports adaptive refresh rate technology. This chipset also supports extended foldable designs.
This is the world’s first chip that supports native RGBW sensor. RGBW sensor promises 30% more light sensitivity and 34% power efficiency advantage. The SoC includes MediaTek Imagiq 890 that can can grab the raw images straight from the sensor.
Dimensity 9200 is the first mobile platform that supports Wi-Fi 7 with up to 6.5 Gbps data rates. It also integrates an advanced 5G modem with AI for faster network searching. The SoC promises to deliver seamless 5G experiences. It also supports Bluetooth 5.3.
MediaTek Dimensity 9200 will be available by the end of 2022. Vivo has already confirmed to launch of a smartphone powered by Dimensity 9200. This should be Vivo X90 series that could be launched next month. OPPO, Xiaomi, HONOR, Transsion, and Asus have also confirmed to launch the phone with this flagship SoC.
