Group chat is an essential feature of WhatsApp that lets a community of people have conversations on different topics. Currently, a WhatsApp group can have up to 512 participants. But, WhatsApp is set to increase the group chat participants’ limit to 1024. The company has already started testing it with beta users on Android and iOS.
This change comes just a few weeks after the company increased the number from 256 to 512.
WABetaInfo shared screenshots confirming the change. In the screenshots, you can see the participants’ limit while creating a new group. It is not clear if the change is only for new groups or for all.
The change in WhatsApp group participants limit is helpful for large companies, groups, and communities
WhatsApp’s rival Telegram lets users add up to 200,000 people to a group. Although Telegram offers a lot more features, most people still use WhatsApp because not all their contacts are on Telegram.
