The real-time strategy game Age of Empires is finally coming to Xbox consoles. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be available on Xbox consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming on January 31st. Age of Empires IV, will also come to consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming later in 2023. Both games will also be available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

The announcement didn’t confirm what Xbox consoles are getting these games. It is also worth mentioning that the console version of the games will also support keyboard and mouse inputs. Controller support is also there but it can be tricky since the game involves lots of clicking around on different items and scrolling.

The first Age of Empires game was released by Microsoft back in 1997 for the Windows platform. Until this announcement, the game has only been available on PC. So, this will be a big shift for the game series.

Microsoft has also confirmed that there will be crossplay support for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. So, you can play the game with your friends on Xbox, PC, or on cloud gaming.
