Samsung has disclosed a new data breach that happened in late June 2022. An attacker managed to get information from some of Samsung’s U.S. systems. The company confirmed that the personal information of several customers was affected.

The intruder managed to get the name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product registration information of customers. Samsung claims that the Social Security numbers and credit or debit card numbers of customers were not accessed.

“We want to assure our customers that the issue did not impact Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers, but in some cases, may have affected information such as name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product registration information,” says Samsung in official response center post.

Samsung didn’t say how many customers were affected. The company also didn’t mention what service or product was compromised. Samsung is now sending emails to all the customers affected by the data breach to notify them about the breach.

Samsung advises customers to take extra care of any unsolicited communications asking for personal information. The company also advises not to click on links or download attachments from suspicious emails.
