The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued orders to block 67 porn websites in India under the new Information Technology (IT) Rules. The order has been issued to all Internet service providers (ISPs) and they are asked to submit a compliance report.
Out of these 67 websites, 63 websites are being blocked based on the order of a Pune court, and 4 websites are based on a judgment of the Uttarakhand High Court given in 2018.

The order to block these porn sites was passed under rule 3(2)(b) of the IT Rules that deal with revenge porn. But the list of websites includes all kinds of porn sites.
Back in 2018, India blocked access to 827 porn websites on the orders of the Uttarakhand High Court.
Even after being blocked, Porn websites manage to become accessible by changing their website domains. Most porn sites get a new domain to become available in the regions where the older domain was blocked. So banning porn sites doesn’t help in any way.
