As per a new report from Protocol, Google is working on a new feature called “Mosaic Mode” for YouTube TV. This feature lets viewers watch up to four different live streams at the same time.

Multi-viewing is already popular in sports where users like to watch sports actions from different angles. FuboTV offers a similar Multiview feature where users can watch up to four simultaneous streams.

Google is also working to bring YouTube Shorts to the smart TV app. YouTube Shorts are already popular on mobile platforms, so the company is ready to bring them to big screens. TikTok is already experimenting with smart TV interfaces. So, YouTube should also think about this before TikTok takes over the big screen.

YouTube Music will also soon come to Android TV and Google TV with some additional features of smart TVs. Some of the new features include the ability to browse playlists and albums, and add them to the library.

The company reportedly discussed all these ideas at an internal partner event with hardware manufacturers a few weeks back.

YouTube TV is a cheaper alternative to cable TV and offers access to many major broadcast networks, cable news channels, and sports channels. It has already surpassed cable viewership for the first time last month.
