Facebook has decided to shut down the Facebook Gaming apps for Android and iOS. The app will no longer be available to download and will stop working starting on October 28th, 2022. The web version will remain available.

Facebook launched Gaming back in 2018 to compete against Twitch and YouTube and also introduced dedicated Gaming apps in 2020. The company also launched a create program to attract gamers to the platform. Facebook also acquired Microsoft’s Mixer to boost the platform. But nothing worked as per expectations.

Facebook has sent a notice to users about its decision.

Facebook Gaming

If you have been using Facebook Gaming apps, you can download your search data before the app stops working.

Facebook made lots of efforts but YouTube and Twitch still have the most gamers. Most gamers like YouTube because of its clear and fair monetization policy. Gamers who stream on Facebook mostly stream on multiple platforms including Twitch and YouTube. Now when Game streaming is also a full-time career, the shutdown of the Facebook Gaming app shows how badly the apps were performing.
