Chipmaker AMD has introduced its latest Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors for gamers and content creators. Ryzen 7000 Series is based on the new “Zen 4” architecture and is built on TSMC 5nm process. It features up to 16 cores and 32 threads.
AMD claims that it was working on getting 8-10% of IPC boost but managed to achieve 13% of IPC boost over Zen 3 processors. Ryzen 7000 processors will use the new AM5 socket and supports DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. Ryzen 9 7950X promises to deliver up to 62% higher performance than Intel’s Core i9-12900K 12th Gen CPU and is also more energy efficient.
Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs can reach 5.7GHz. Here is a breakdown of AMD’s four latest Ryzen 700 series desktop processors.
Cores Threads | Base Freq | Turbo Freq | L2 Cache | L3 Cache | TDP | MSRP | |
Ryzen 9 7950X | 16C / 32T | 4.5GHz | 5.7GHz | 16 MB | 64 MB | 170 W | $699 |
Ryzen 9 7900X | 12C / 24T | 4.7GHz | 5.6GHz | 12 MB | 64 MB | 170 W | $549 |
Ryzen 7 7700X | 8C / 16T | 4.5GHz | 5.4GHz | 8 MB | 32 MB | 105 W | $399 |
Ryzen 5 7600X | 6C / 12T | 4.7GHz | 5.3GHz | 6 MB | 32 MB | 105 W | $299 |
The 7950X is the most power-hungry CPU with 170W of TDP. Ryzen 9 7950X also claims to be the fastest CPU in the world. It can easily outperform Intel Core i9 12900K.
For these processors, AMD also unveiled a new Socket AM5 platform. It offers dual-channel DDR5 memory and includes up to 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes. The company confirmed four new chipsets including AMD X670 Extreme, AMD X670, AMD B650E, and AMD B650.
