Asus just announced its latest gaming phone ROG Phone 6 in global markets and India. ROG Phone 6 Pro is the same but has larger RAM and storage. The phone has an AMOLED HDR display with a 165Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, up to 18GB RAM, 50+13+5 MP rear camera, 12 MP selfie camera, and 6000mAh battery. It starts at Rs. 71999 in India.
ROG Phone 6 features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED HDR display with a 165Hz refresh rate, and 720Hz touch-sampling rate. The display supports 10-bit HDR and features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The phone runs Android 12 out of the box. There will be both ROG UI and Zen UI. Asus promises 2 OS upgrades and 2 years of security updates.
The phone is powered by up to a 3.2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 8 Gen+ 1 4nm processor and Adreno next-gen GPU. The ROG Phone 6 comes in three models: 8+256GB, 12+256GB, and 16+512GB. ROG Phone 6 Pro comes with 18GB RAM and 512GB storage. The phone use LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for faster performance. This is a gaming phone, so the company has added an improved cooking system that boasts to bring down the CPU temperature by up to 10°C.
The triple rear camera setup includes 50 megapixels primary camera, 13-megapixels 125˚ ultra-wide camera, and 5 megapixels macro camera. The phone can record 8k video at 30 fps, 4k at 60fps, slow-motion 4K at 120 fps, and 1080p at 240fps. For selfies, the phone has 12 megapixels front-facing camera.
ROG Phone 6 has a Qualcomm WCD9385 chip for Hi-Res output. There are dual front-facing speakers with Dirac HD Sound and a 5-magnet stereo speaker with Cirrus Logic amplifier. The phone also has an In-display fingerprint sensor.
Like previous ROG Phones, ROG Phone 6 also feature Ultrasonic sensors. The company calls them AirTriggers 6. Now it lets you map up to 14 specific touchpoints. These two ultrasonic buttons now offer nine input methods including the new “press and lift.”
Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, Galileo(E1+E5a), QZSS(L1+L5), NavIC(L5), USB Type-C, and NFC. It packs 6000mAh battery with support to 65W fast charging, Quick Charge 5.0 and PD 3.0 Charging.
ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro have IPX4 ratings for splash resistance. The phone measure 173 x 77 x 10.3mm and weighs 239g. ROG Phone 6 comes in Phantom Black and Storm White colors. ROG Phone 6 Pro only comes in Storm White color. ROG Phone 6 Pro also features a ROG Vision color PMOLED display.
ASUS ROG Phone 6 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 71,999 in India. The company has not confirmed the pricing of the base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is being launched in Europe at 1149 Euros. ROG Phone 6 Pro with 18GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at Rs. 88,999.
