Cleartrip suffers customer data breach

Flipkart-owned flights and hotel booking platform Cleartrip has suffered a major data breach of customers’ data. The company informed customers about the data breach via an email on Monday.

“This is to inform you that there has been a security anomaly that entailed illegal and unauthorized access to a part of Cleartrip’s internal systems,” the email sent to customers read.

Cleartrip clarified that some personal information was leaked in the data breach, but no sensitive information related to customers was compromised. The company had already reached out to the authorities to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action.

Clartrip didn’t go into detail about the data breach. So, we cannot say what data was leaked in this data breach. We also don’t know when the data breach occurred.

The company advised customers to change their Cleartrip account passwords as a precautionary measure.
