Telegram has finally started rolling out the premium tier with additional features. It costs 4.99/€5.49/INR 469 per month. You need to update the Telegram app to version 8.8 and then go to app settings and select the new Telegram Premium option. The premium tier has been introduced to support the Telegram app to scale.
Telegram shows Sponsored Messages on large and public channels in some countries. Telegram Premium removes ads. It also brings the ability to send 4GB files. Free tier users can receive 4GB files and download them. It also offers the fastest possible download speed for media and files.
Premium users can also follow up to 1,000 channels and create up to 20 chat folders with up to 200 chats in each. They can also pin 10 chats and add a fourth account to any Telegram app. These users can also write a longer bio with links.
Premium Telegram users can also convert voice messages to text. They also get dozens of stickers with full-screen animations. Telegram promises to update these stickers monthly. Premium users will also get more ways to react to messages with over 10 new emoji options.
Telegram is also adding new tools to organize chat lists and additional options in Privacy and Security. Profile videos of premium users will also animate and they will also get a Premium special badge.
Telegram has also confirmed that the platform now has 700 million users worldwide.
