Popular messaging app WhatsApp has rolled out a new update and brings the ability to add up to 512 members in a WhatsApp group. Before this update, the group limit was set to 256 members.
This feature has already been available on WhatsApp beta version 2.22.13.10 and newer and WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.12.0.73. If you use WhatsApp beta, you already have the ability to add up to 512 members to a WhatsApp group. Now the company is releasing this to the stable version of the app for all the WhatsApp users.
This was initially spotted by WAbetainfo that also shared a screenshot.
Meta-owned WhatsApp announced a 512 members group back in May along with a few other features such as message reactions, the ability to share a file up to 2GB, and more. We already received Message reactions. In a few weeks, the ability to share a file of up to 2GB will also be added.
Even if the company has doubled the number of members you can add to a WhatsApp group, it is nowhere near to Telegram which lets people add up to 200,000 participants in a group.
