Google News is getting a major redesign for the desktop. The new design prioritizes important stories to make it easier to catch up with news topics you care about.

The new design moves new topics from the sidebar to the top. You can click customize button next to the topics section to select what topics you want to see and change their order. The weather widget now takes smaller space. In the local news section, you can add multiple locations to read local news of that location.

Have a look at these two photos to compare the old and new designs.

Google News is also making a comeback to Spain. The company claims that Google News is present in 125 countries and 40 languages. It also drives more than 24 billion clicks to news publishers’ websites every month.

Google is also opening applications for its News Equity Fund that will help independent journalists or small news organizations to produce original stories. The company will accept applications until July 21 from all the countries except China and Russia.
