Google Maps is one of the most useful apps we can’t live without. Now the app wants you to know the quality of air around you. The app will now show you the Air Quality Index around you.

The AQI will help you decide if you should go outside and plan your activity according to it. You can also then decide to get a good Air Purifier if AQI is too bad around your area.

To add the Air Quality data layer to your Maps, simply tap on the button in the top right corner of your screen, then select Air Quality under Map details.

Google Maps fetches the data from trusted government agencies. It also fetches information from PurpleAir, a low-cost sensor network to get a more hyperlocal view of conditions. Maps will also tell you the last time it updated the data and data source. You will also have a link to learn more about Air Quality and AQI.
