Apple unveils iOS 16 at WWDC 2022

At its Worldwide Developers Conference 2022, Apple unveiled its upcoming smartphone OS dubbed iOS 16. The company will now test the OS and will release it this fall. The iOS 16 brings an improved Lock Screen, widgets, more personalization options, and updates to Messages.

The most notable change in the iOS 16 is the lock screen. Now users can customize fonts and colors. They can also add widgets and configure multiple lock screens. The iOS 16 also lets users assign different focus modes to different lock screens.

The company has also revamped notifications. Now notifications roll up from the bottom of the screen. There is also Live Activities feature that helps you track current events such as Uber rides or a game score.

Apple has also improved messages. Now you can edit texts even after they have been sent, recall them, or dictate messages. You can also now mark a message thread as unread.

The company is also adding a Live Text feature to video. So, you can now copy text from videos as well. The Wallet app is also getting some features. Now it is easier to share saved keys. Apple Pay is getting a new “pay later” feature. You can split the bill into four equal payments without any interest or late fees.

The iOS 16 brings shared iCloud photo libraries. This makes it easier to share photos with family and friends. A shared photo library can be accessed by up to 6 people.

Apple Maps is getting multi-stop routing. You can add up to 15 stops to a single trip. The company has also added six more cities to its detailed city experience.

Apple Mail gets the ability to send scheduled emails. Mail can also now detect when you forget to add an important attachment. The company has improved search algorithms to find older emails and contacts.

The developer preview of iOS 16 is now available to Developer Program members starting today. The public beta will be released next month and a stable version of iOS 16 will be available in September with the upcoming iPhone 14 series.
