YouTube has added a ‘Green Screen’ tool that lets creators any video as background for their shorts. Creators can use any 60-second video segment from any eligible YouTube video or YouTube Shorts as a background for their Shorts. The only exception is that creators cannot use music videos that include copyrighted content from YouTube’s partners. Any video with Green Screen will also include a link back to the original content creator.

Creators using an iOS device can also use the Green Screen tool in the Shorts camera to choose any photo or video from their phone as a background.

Google confirms that the Green Screen tool is now rolling out on iOS today and will come to Android soon.

YouTube Shorts now also lets creators remix up to 60 seconds of videos from any eligible on-demand YouTube video or other YouTube Short if the original creator has granted permission to do so.

The company has confirmed that original creators in a remix video will not be compensated but remixes will surely help them get more viewers. Remix videos will have an attribute back to the original video with a link in the Shorts player.
