MediaTek today announced three new smartphones SoCs. The most notable SoC is Dimensity 1050 which is the first mmWave 5G chipset for the next generation of 5G smartphones. The other two are Dimensity 930 5G and Helio G99 4G.
Dimensity 1050 is the first Mediatek SoC to support dual mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity. The Soc is built on TSMC 6nm process. It has an octa-core processor with two ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. The chipset also has an ARM Mali-G610 GPU.
Dimensity 1050 supports MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 which offers additional optimization tools for better gaming performance. The SoC supports a Full HD+ resolution display with up to 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR10+ playback and Dolby Vision.
In camera capabilities, it supports a single camera of up to 108 megapixels or a 20+20 MP dual camera.
The SoC supports UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory for fast data transfers.
In connectivity, the SoC features Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, Glonass, NavIC, mmWave with 4CC carrier aggregation, and Sub-6 with 3CC carrier aggregation.

Dimensity 930 is built on TSMC 6nm process. It has an octa-core CPU that includes 2 Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. It supports LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM along with UFS 2.1, UFS 2.2, and UFS 3.1 storage. The SoC also includes the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU.
The SoC supports a full HD+ display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
Helio G99 is a 4G chip built on TSMC 6nm processor. It has 2 Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 6 efficiency Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. For graphics, it includes Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
It supports a Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of connectivity, the SoC has Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual 4G VoLTE, and GPS.
