Google Translate adds support for 24 new languages

Google, Translate, Google I/O

At its I/O developer conference, Google confirmed the addition of 24 new languages to Google Translate. So, Google Translate now supports 133 languages. Google says that newly added languages are spoken by a total of over 300 million people.

Google also says that these are the first languages that use Zero-Shot Machine Translation where a machine learning model only sees monolingual text. It has the capability to translate text into another language without ever seeing an example. The tech is new and seems impressive, but it will take some time to be perfect. Google also says that it will keep improving these models.
