A new report from Puck claims that gaming giant Electronic Arts is actively looking for a buyer. The company has already held talks with Amazon, Apple, and Disney about a potential acquisition or a merger.
EA also recently talked with NBCUniversal but didn’t reach an agreement. NBCUniversal’s parent company Comcast approached EA with an offer to merge EA and NBCUniversal. The deal couldn’t be finalized over the price and merged entity’s final form.
EA has also reportedly talked with Disney to merge EA Sports with ESPN. But Disney is focusing on its streaming service Disney+ and wants to keep a cash reserve for it.
Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, EA has talked to several companies for acquisition or merger. EA has a market capitalization of almost $37 billion. If any company acquires it, it will be the second-largest publisher to ever be acquired. EA has also spent $5 billion to acquire two mobile game studios in the past 18 months. The company recently confirmed that it will be ending its partnership with FIFA starting next year. It will also lose its exclusive license to produce Star Wars titles next year.

We see a very bright future ahead,” said an EA spokesperson.
